Advent Candles - Sets of 6 candles, 4 purple, 1 rose and 1 white. The purple represent Penance - preparing the way, one of which is lit on the first, second and fourth Sundays of Advent. The rose candle is lit on the third Sunday (Gaudete Sunday), representing joy. Finally the white candle is lit on Christmas morning. The 'Birth of Christ', the 'Light of the World'. The fourth purple candle is intended as a replacement for the candle lit on the first Sunday which is usually burnt down by the fourth week.
